The Textile Journey Festival is a celebration of creativity and all things wool, and textile.
It includes a variety of events: a summer camp, demonstrations, open studios & workshops. The festival is an invitation to everyone: come and try making or exploring textiles. Lets connect to each other.
Daily Demonstrations will showcase the skills of some of the most loved Irish textile artists: Cosima Malloy, Helen Crawford, Jane Fox, Mary Palmer, Kim Lin Morris, Rachel McKinney, Aine Dunne, Suzanne Duke, Patricia O’Connor and Niki Collier.
A materials and tools exchange will run each day. Its a place where you can swap bits from your stash and explore new materials, tools and techniques that they you have never tried before.
Following the tradition of the festival, a sharing panel – an art installation developed through the facilitators – will emerge throughout the week. Please join us in making this art piece.
Summer Camp
10am-1pm, 31st July – 4th August
In parallel with the festival activities, a Summer Camp for children aged 6-16 will take place between 10am and 1pm each day. This is a private event run by one of our members, Niki Collier. Tickets can be booked here. The camp will give children the chance to try different textile techniques each day, including: eco dying, felting, embroidery, and lace-making while at the same time considering upcycling and recycling of materials.
